Saguache County is part of Colorado's 12th Judicial District with Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, and Rio Grande Counties. The official judges and staff page lists Amanda C. Hopkins as District Court Chief Judge. District court judges listed for the 12th Judicial District and Saguache County include Kim Cortez-Rodriguez, Michael A. Gonzales, and Crista Newmyer-Olsen. Michael A. Gonzales is also listed as a water judge. Brandie Taylor is listed as the Saguache County Clerk of Court.
The districtwide structure matters when a case involves prosecutors, public defenders, specialty services, water court, or regional staff. Saguache District Appeals and Water
County court appeals generally go to district court. District court judgments generally go to the Colorado Court of Appeals, with some matters going directly to the Colorado Supreme Court. Municipal appeal routes can vary, especially when a municipal court is a court of record, so parties should check the local municipal court notice or contact the municipal clerk.
Water court context is unusually relevant in Saguache County.
